A Compact Ancillary Dwelling in White Gum Valley, Perth
This project demonstrates how considered residential architecture can deliver strong outcomes even with a reduced scope and tighter budget. Our involvement was limited to Building Permit documentation and contractor selection — yet the design still delivers on the fundamentals: orientation of openings, functional relationships between spaces, and connection to the landscape.
A Studio Built for Flexibility
Located at the rear of a long block in White Gum Valley, Western Australia, this small ancillary dwelling was designed to accommodate a young couple’s parents during visits from overseas, and as short-term accommodation when unoccupied. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom studio feels considerably larger than its footprint, thanks to a large open void that defines the internal spaces.
